About TELPAS PRO

What is TELPAS?

Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) is an assessment that students learning English language are required to take if enrolled in Texas public schools.

TELPAS assesses the English language proficiency of students who have been identified as English learners (ELs) in four language domains, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. TELPAS evaluates the progress that each EL makes in becoming proficient in the use of academic English.

Problem — many students are struggling to show growth on TELPAS they have nothing to practice.

Who takes TELPAS?

Students in grades K-12 that have been identified as an EL are required to take TELPAS. This includes ELs whose parents have declined bilingual or English as a Second Language (ESL) program services.

Students are required to take the test until the Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) determines the student English language have met exit criteria.

This applies to all ELs even those who are not in a bilingual or ESL program. Once a student has met the state’s exit criteria, they will no longer be identified as an EL and will not have to participate in TELPAS

Problem — students are scoring lower than expected on TELPAS. Educators are unable to benchmark students to determine readiness.

How does TELPAS Pro™ Work?

TELPAS Pro™ evaluates and drives progress for students to become proficient in the use of academic English.

TELPAS Pro™ uses similar rubrics and metrics as used in the TELPAS to provide both assessment and practice.

TELPAS Pro™ Features:
